Black Adam, also known as Teth-Adam, is a complex anti-hero from DC Comics, first appearing in The Marvel Family #1 in December 1945.
Originally from ancient Kahndaq, Teth-Adam was chosen by the wizard Shazam to be his champion, granting him incredible powers: the stamina of Shu, the swiftness of Heru, the strength of Amon, the wisdom of Zehuti, the power of Aton, and the courage of Mehen.
However, Adam was corrupted by these powers and used them to rule Kahndaq as a ruthless dictator, leading Shazam to strip him of his abilities and imprison him. He eventually escaped and sought vengeance. He is often portrayed as an antagonist to the Shazam family.
